Riding on its success in the Indian electric SUV market, BYD has introduced a significant Model Year 2025 update for the Atto 3. Announced in early March 2025, the refresh elevates the premium feel of the electric SUV by incorporating key features tailored for Indian conditions, most notably ventilated front seats and a sophisticated all-black interior theme. This update aims to keep the Atto 3 competitive against a growing field of rivals, including the MG ZS EV and upcoming electric SUVs from Hyundai and Tata.
Having surpassed the 3,000-unit sales milestone in India, BYD is rewarding new customers by offering the updated MY2025 Atto 3 at the previous MY2024 ex-showroom prices for a limited period, covering the first 3,000 bookings. This strategic move makes the newly feature-rich SUV an even more attractive proposition.
The most celebrated addition in the 2025 Atto 3 is the inclusion of ventilated front seats. This feature is a game-changer for the Indian climate, providing substantial relief from the heat during long drives and making the overall journey significantly more comfortable. It's a premium feature that customers in this segment increasingly expect and its inclusion demonstrates BYD's responsiveness to local market demands.
Complementing the new comfort feature is a complete interior overhaul. The quirky and distinctive dual-tone blue-and-grey interior has been replaced with a sleeker, all-black theme. This change gives the cabin a more conventional, premium, and sophisticated ambiance that is likely to appeal to a broader range of buyers. The signature design elements, such as the guitar-string door pockets and dumbbell-style air vents, remain, but are now set against a more uniform and elegant backdrop.
Beyond aesthetics, the 2025 update brings a crucial technical improvement. The Atto 3's low-voltage auxiliary battery, which powers the car's electronics, has been upgraded from a traditional lead-acid unit to a modern Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery. This is the same Blade Battery technology that powers the main drivetrain, known for its safety and longevity. BYD states this new auxiliary unit is significantly lighter, has better self-discharge characteristics, and boasts a lifespan of up to 15 years, enhancing the vehicle's long-term reliability.
Other core features that have defined the Atto 3's success remain unchanged. These include the iconic 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, a 5-inch digital driver’s display, a wireless phone charger, and a comprehensive ADAS suite, which helped the vehicle secure a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
The powertrain options also remain the same, with two Blade Battery pack choices: a 49.92 kWh battery offering an ARAI-certified range of 468 km in the 'Dynamic' variant, and a 60.48 kWh battery providing up to 521 km of range in the 'Premium' and 'Superior' variants. The pricing structure, under the introductory offer, starts at ₹24.99 lakh for the Dynamic trim, with the Premium and Superior trims priced at ₹29.85 lakh and ₹33.99 lakh respectively (all ex-showroom). With these thoughtful and practical updates, the BYD Atto 3 has significantly upped its premium quotient, making a strong case for itself as one of the most well-rounded electric SUVs in its segment.
